Mime
The expressive, silent art of mime encourages focus, concentration and commitment. It is an ancient art form that embodies many skills of drama, making it a great, fun way to teach students drama techniques.
Students learn about basic gestures, run through a traditional solo mime piece, and create skits of their own in partners and groups.
What do we do?
- Learn basic techniques in mime such as gestures, "the clic", facial expressions, walking in place, and more
- See a mime solo performance
- Run through a traditional solo mime piece
- Create skits in partners and in groups, and perform them

Curriculum Expectations:

- Describe and interpret their own and other's work, using appropriate drama and dance vocabulary
- Identify and explain the use and significance of symbols or objects
- Identify and describe examples of movement found in their environment, and explain their use in creative movement
- Enact or create, rehearse, and present drama and dance works based on novels, stories, poems, and plays
- Demonstrate the ability to sustain concentration while in role
- Create and present a short choreography individually or in a group
- Create characters and portray their motives and decisions through movements
- Evaluate drama presentations done in class

- Interpret and present scripts, paying attention to the subtext, characters, and setting
